Why does my credit card show two charges for my ride?

Credit Card Charge

Find out how and when your card is charged, including pre-authorizations.

You haven't been charged twice — one amount is a temporary pre-authorization to confirm your card can cover the fare, and the other is the actual charge processed after your ride.

How it works

  1. When you book, SIXT places a pre-authorization on your card for the expected fare amount.
  2. Once your ride is complete, the final charge is applied on the next working day.
  3. The pre-authorization is then released automatically.

If you canceled your ride

If no cancellation fee applied, the pre-authorization is released automatically and you won't be charged. Depending on your card issuer, it can take up to a few days for the hold to clear from your account.
